Where oh where have I been?

Sorry I've been absent lately. One of my New Year's resolutions was to blog regularly. I was pretty good at it at the beginning of January, but haven't been here much in the last 2 weeks. But I have a pretty good excuse - we have just purchased our fist home!!! We are beyond excited! The house is one street over from where we currently live and is pretty much exactly what we were looking for. It's an older 2 storey home, built in 1915. It has 3 bedrooms, a fireplace, an unfinished attic and a partially finished basement. We are in love!

The house was not up on MLS and didn't have a For Sale sign up but I had heard that the owners were thinking of selling when I was at my hairstylists in November. I saw Amy, my hairstylist, again in December and she suggested we knock on their door or drop them a note to see if they were in fact planning to sell their house. It took me until January 18th to write the letter but I did and dropped it off. The next night we got a phone call - they had received our letter and wondered if we wanted to see the house. Of course, we did! We went to see the house on January 21 and stepped in the front door and fell in love!!! We went back the following Wednesday with our realtor and put an offer in. The seller's then countered our offer on Thursday and on Saturday we accepted their counter offer! This week has been arranging financing, inspections and insurance and obtaining a lawyer. We are on the home stretch now, just a few more things to finalized before the house is officially ours!!

Here it is:

I hope to get some crafting in on the weekend, but the Superbowl may get in the way -GO Giants GO!!

Cheers,

Kelly :)

Sketchy Thursday - The Magic of Christmas

Happy Hump Day!

I'm back with a sketch from Sketchy Thursdays. It's their last one which makes me uber sad because I've loved their sketches. They will be missed for sure - thank you so much ST ladies!

Here is my take:

I used the Echo Park "Merry Christmas" line. The only thing that is not from that line is the background kraft paper and the stickles on the ornament banner.

I would like to add more to this layout, but this week is crazy and I don't have much time but I really wanted to play along so it is what it is.

Have a great week, I'll be back soon!

Once Upon a Sketch - January 15th -

I finally found some time in my scraproom this week and decided to play along with Once Upon a Sketch. I love this sketch!!!! **Unfortunately, I missed the deadline to submit it :(**

Here's the sketch:

And here's my layout:

I scrapped another wedding picture - I am determined to get my album finished this year. The journalling theme was New year's Eve. We were to journal about your feelings around this time of year, or about your most memorable New Year's Eve. Where were you? Who were you with? What did you do? Why is this one memorable? You didn't have to use a NYE photo though. My journalling was about this year and it reads... It's our second married New Years Eve. 2012 brings some big changes - buying a house & starting a family (hopefully!. Exciting things are in store for us!.

Recipe to follow (I have to do some digging to find all the products I used!)

Thanks for stopping by!

Top 10 projects from 2011

I have noticed quite a few of my blogger friends posting their top 10's of 2011 and I think it's a great idea so I am going to do the same! I actually thought I only had enough "stuff" for a top 5 but was pleasantly surprised that I had enough for 10!And I love that the project topics range from travel to family to wedding to everyday life. This is why we scrapbook!

So here they are:

Imp - Sketchy Thursdays 1.5.12 sketch

I'm back with another layout based on a Sketchy Thursdays sketch. I love their sketches!

Here's the sketch:

Here's my layout. *Note* I had originally posted this layout with a plain brown background and decided I didn't like it so changed the background paper. I like it much better now.

This is one of my favourite pictures of my niece McKenna. I love that it captures her mischievous personality!

The papers and most of the embellies are all Simple Stories "100 Days of Summer". The scalloped edge circle is from My Little Yellow Bicycle "Pack Your Bags" and the brads are from Studio G. Lastly, the letters for the title are Thickers from American Crafts.

Hop on over to Sketchy Thursdays and play along!

Thanks for peekin' - have a great week!

Travel Project

Hi,

I'm back again - twice in one week, write that down. LOL!

When I was in Cleveland in June I had to have a Pinecone Press suitcase kit using 7 Gypsies Lille collection. I finally took the time to put it all together over the Christmas break.

The Back:

And the pages in between:)

This was a fun little project and gives a snapshot of our trips to Europe in 2010.

Thanks for peekin'!

The little details

Happy New Year! I can't believe it's 2012 already - time is flying by!

I am hoping to scrapbook more this year and my goal is to complete 150 projects (cards or layouts). I've completed my first one thanks to a Sketchy Thursday's 12.29 sketch and Two Scrapbook Friends forum challenge

Here's the sketch:

And here's my layout:

I am still working on my wedding album and here's hoping I get it finished this year! I have wanted to scrap some of the little things that made up my bridal attire for a while. I can be very indecisive but I knew right away I wanted colour added to our day - the red shoes, the red sash were just what I had in mind. I also knew exactly how I wanted my bouquet to look and despite planning our wedding over email and never seeing the venue or meeting our florist, wedding planner and photographer's in person, everything was absolutely perfect!

Thanks for stopping by - hope to see you again soon :)

Recipe:

Papers - Creative Memories, Stampin' Up and some miscellaneous scraps from my stash
Flower: Jolee's boutique
