Sorry I've been MIA for the past two months. I've had some personal stuff going on that took up my time, but I've been able to craft a bit this month.

I made Christmas cards for my aunt to send out and this is what I came up with.

My family and friends know that I love Paris, and more specifically the Eiffel Tower which is why I bought the stamp :) As well, my aunt is a traveller and I thought this stamp was perfect for her cards. It's a Hero Arts stamp, that I coloured with Copics and then used silver stickles for the glitter. The green polka dot paper is from Echo Park, their Christmas collection from last year. It was super simple to make but I am really pleased with how it turned out!

I hope to be blogging (and crafting!) a little more regularly come January.

Merry Christmas everyone! I hope you have a wonderful holiday and all the best in 2012!!!

September Product Challenge

Happy Wednesday!

Here is my Two Scrapbook Friends product challenge for September. I loved the contents of this months kit!

Anyhoo, here's my take:

The picture's are of my niece McKenna, taken this summer. One of these times I will remember to take a picture of the contents before I start scrappin'!

Thanks for visiting!

It's back!

My crafty mojo that is!

All it took was a 10 hour crop at Two Scrapbook Friends with my sff's!

The first layout I completed was for the monthly sketch challenge at TSF. This is based on the August sketch (I haven't gotten my head around July's sketch!). It is photos from our trip to London last year.

You can find the sketch here:

And here is my layout:

I love how this page turned out. The Changing of the Guard was one of my favourite experiences from London.

I completed this pages as well, also from London. I feel like it's lacking something....but I just don't know what?!? Any suggestions?
Oh well, it's about the pictures right?

I also completed a card for a co-worker's birthday but I forgot to take a picture of the card before I gave it away! oops!

I started the product challenge for September as well, but didn't finish it. I will post that soon, once I finish it!

Hmmm...3 pages and a card - that's not a lot to show for 10 hours! I guess I am a slooooooow scrapper! :)

Have a great day, thanks for visiting!

I'll be back soon!

So, I still haven't found my crafting mojo yet. But I am trying! I did a kit last night to help me get back in the groove and that felt good. I hope to find some time to work on another one this week but I am not sure that will happen as I got a new job! It's in the office I currently work in, but it's still a new job with new skills to learn. It's our crazy busy time at work right now for my current though, so for most of this month I am going to be "shared" between the two areas. For me, this means a few extra hours, pretty much every day. Add taking another university course (starting September 13) and household responsibilities into the mix and there's not much time for crafting. But I have CHA crop at Two Scrapbook Friends on the 17th to look forward to so for now, that's what is keeping me going :)

Where O Where....

has my crafting mojo gone? I've been in a bit of a crafting funk lately...I haven't had a lot of extra time, but when I have had a few moments to spare, I haven't felt creative :( I thought since I wasn't enrolled in any courses this summer I would have all this free time and I'd be crafting like crazy. WRONG!

We're on holidays next week and only camping at the Pinery for 3 days so I will have time to do some crafting. Here's hoping that my mojo returns!

Have a great day!

Car Seat Diva - Sketchy Thursdays 7.21

Playing along with Sketchy Thursdays again - I love their sketches!! Even if I can't complete a layout in time to post it on their blog, I always print the sketches out for future use.

Here's the sketch:

Here's my layout:

When I saw this sketch I knew right away that I was going to 1. flip it and 2. replace the strips of photos with patterned paper. I also knew I wanted to use this picture of my niece McKenna on her way to the cottage. I just love this pic! With her sunglasses, bracelet, barbie, drink, hat and of course her "sousie" she is all set! I've had this layout finished since Friday and finally was able to run out tonight and print the picture.

The details:

Paper - background Early Expresso from Stampin'Up, green from bazill and all patterned paper My Mind's Eye "Lime Twist". The banner is punched using the Pennant Parade punch from SU and strung along Jillibean Soup Twine.

Flowers: I've temporarily misplaced the packaging for the white flower, but will update when I find it. The pink centre flower is Prima "Delightful Day Col Glory".

Letters: Pink letters are from Bella Blvd "Simply Simona Peep" and the small brown letters are MME Lime Twist Fly a Kite "Genuine" Alphabet.

Thanks for peekin'!

Photo Bomb...Veronica Style!!

I'm back with another layout I started at Memories Manor . I believe it is based on a Page Maps sketch, but I gave my copy of the sketch away to a table mate at MM so I can't be 100% sure. Sam, Lori & I had no idea that Veronica had snuck into our picture!

Anyhow, this layout is of my scrappy friends and I and the tag contains hidden journalling. The journalling says: Scrappy Friends forever! We met on National Scrapbooking Day 2009 and have been getting together to scrap ever since! We always have a great time when we get together!

Paper: Background paper - early expresso from Stampin' Up; patterned paper Echo Park "A Walk in the Park".
Embellishments: miscellaneous from my stash. I made the pink rik rak flower and the bomb for the O is a clip art picture from the 'net.

This time, I am playing along at Once Upon A ...Sketch for the first time. I am so glad I was able to find time to play. I loved this sketch and I knew right away I would used my recent university grad photos.

Here's the sketch:

And here's my layout:

Memories Manor...and Sketchy Thursday challenge

Hi there!

Just back from a wonderful weekend at Memories Manor with my sff's! As usual, we had an amazing time - wonderful hostesses, amazing food and an entire weekend to scrap, scrap, scrap. We had so much fun! Can't wait to do it again in November!

Here is a photo of my sff's in front of the manor.

And while I was there, I managed to complete a layout based on the 06.23 Sketchy Thursday's sketch.

Here's the sketch:

And here's my layout. I love how it turned out! I plan on making a second page to go with it.

The deets:

Paper: kraft paper, Bo bunny "Timeless" line, Bazill cardstock "red high heels", fancy pants designs "It's the little things" and Stampin' Up scraps.

Flowers: bazill basics flower with a prima flower layered on top, miscellaneous flower from my stash (cream flower) and a brown rik rak flower I made based on a tutorial list here on the Two Scrapbook Friends forum

The heart pin is jillibean soup; I can't remember what company made the red pin, but I bought it from my lss to use in my bouquet and the clear pin was also from my bouquet. The brads in the flowers are from Stampin' Up.

After 9 years of taking courses part-time, I am now a University of Waterloo graduate! I received my Bachelor of Arts degree at the Faculty of Arts convocation on June 16, 2011.

It still doesn't seem real!

Sketchy Thursday's 6.9.11

I'm finally playing along again at Sketchy Thursday's after a 2 month hiatus. I've checked the sketch out every week, but hadn't been able to play along. It's good to be back and this week's sketch is awesome!

Here's the sketch:

And here's my take. As soon as I saw this sketch, I knew I was going to flip it, as I had these pictures in mind. I love, love, love these pics my sister snapped of my niece McKenna & I. We were hanging out on my mom's front step, having some serious girl talk. She is such a cutie!!

The deets:

Paper and Diecuts: Echo Park - "A walk in the park" (and one from "summertime"). I added pearls from Stampin' Up to the diecut butterfly.

Flowers: Pink ribbon baseflower using SU ribbon and a gluber (they're so cool!) with a flower from my stash topped with a SU button from the Brights collection.

Letters/Numbers: Merry Christmas alpha stickers from Echo Park

Pink border: Scallop border punch from SU

I also used my spellbinders die to cut the shape for the subtitle of the layout and a discontinued calendar set from SU to stamp the month of May.

Thanks for peekin'!

Little Red Wagon Challenge #84

This week's challenge at Little Red Wagon is to MIST IT!!

I have a handful of mists, but nothing that would match the colour scheme of this layout. So I improvised. I used a Stampin' Up ink refill mixed with a bit of water and glamour dust and then sprayed it on my layout. (And then I remembered I did have an olive glimmermist and used that to mist the q t letters). But I like how the makeshift mist turned out and will do this again for sure!

I used the April 2010 sketch from the forum at Two Scrapbook Friends.

Have a great day!

Playing along with Little Red Wagon

This week's challenge at Little Red Wagon - a sketch by Dee!

I used some kraft paper, echo park "walk in the park" paper and diecuts I've been hoarding, some new jillibean twine and a miscellaneous flower.

Thanks for peekin!

Two Scrapbook Friends - May Sketch Challenge

Hi there,

I finished the May sketch challenge over at the forum at Two Scrapbook Friends. I loved this sketch from pagemaps:

Here's my take - I followed it pretty closely, surprise surprise ;)

The background paper is from pink paislee. The rest of the paper is Jillibean soup, except for the plain beige piece which is from my scraps. The corrugated kraft alphas are also Jillibean. Flower is from my stash, and I fussy cut it to look more like a palm tree. I soaked it in old olive ink from Stampin' Up to take it from cream to green. The snap shot and people, places things quote are stamps from Stampin' Up stamped in walnut stain and real red. The ribbon is also from Stampin' Up and the heart button is from my stash (I've been hoarding it!).

Oh, and I sewed. With my sewing machine! This is very exciting for me because I only just learned to thread my machine 2 days ago and if you look at the post below my attempts at sewing are scary at worst and amusing at best :)

Thanks for peekin'!

I sewed!

At Christmas I received my first sewing machine. I really wanted one, but being that I have never sewn, I didn't know how to thread my machine. So, for the past 5 (nearly 6) months my sewing machine has been on my craft desk, taking up space and collecting dust. Until yesterday. I read the instructions on how to thread my machine and was totally confused. So I googled it. Between the great step by step google instructions I found online and the instructions that came with my sewing machine, I actually succeeded in threading my machine! By myself even! And the worked!! I know, I was in shock too, trust me!

So, since I had it threaded I thought, well, I will just sew a straight border around a page....EPIC FAIL!!

I can't sew a straight line to save my life so this attempt quickly turned into an experiment of all the stitches my machine had.

I have a long way to go in my sewing, but I've taken the first step! I plan to add a bit to my layouts to start. Maybe by the end of the summer I will be brave enough to attempt a camera strap cover.

Wedding Card

Here's a card I made for a co-worker's upcoming wedding. We're having a man shower for him at work after the wedding. Yellow is their colour so I used that as a starting point and I am pleased with how it turned out!

I am hoping Eric & Ashley have a wonderful wedding day this Saturday in the Niagara region and that the rain holds off!

Paper: whisper white cardstock from Stampin' Up as the base and on the wedding cake which was cut using my Wild Card cricut cartridge; Yellow Dotted paper from We are Memory Keepers
Pins: My Little Yellow Bicycle
Ribbon: Stampin' Up
Love Stamp: Unity Stamp Co
Ink: Black Soot Distress Ink
Flowers: miscellanous from my stash

Little Cheerleaders, Big Fans!

My first attempt at a banner for Joanne's National Scrapbook Day challenge on the forum at Two Scrapbook Friends . I cut diamond shapes out on my cricut (George and the Basic Shapes) and the scored and folded in half.

My brother Bruce lives and works in Calgary and plays professional lacrosse there as well. The cutie patooties are my niece and nephew in their Calgary Roughnecks jersey's, cheering on Uncle Bruce. I misted the cardstock in Roughnecks colours and I am very happy with how it turned out.

Layout recipe:
Paper - grey from Close to my Heart, spritzed with Cinder Glimmermists and Red from Maya Road (I've been loving misting lately!); red paper for banners Real Red from Stampin' Up
Cheer card - Jenni Bowlin
Vintage Lacrosse Sign - Karen Foster Designs
Twine for banner - Stampin' Up
Letters - all miscellaneous leftovers from my stash
Miscellanous lacrosse ribbon

No more school = More crafting time!

Since school is o-ver, I have more time in my crafty space. This means time to catch up on all the challenges I missed on the Two Scrapbook Friends forum. Check the forum out - there are lots of talented ladies there!

Anyhow, the April 13 card challenge to use pink. The card is based on a cardmaps sketch and here's my take:

The recipe: Light Heritage White cardstock from Colour Mates, patterned paper from Echo Park, bitter chocolate cardstock from Bazill, miscellaneous ribbon from my stash and buttons from Stampin' Up, Walnut Stain distress ink.

I'm back!

We had a wonderful, relaxing vacation in Cayo Guillermo, Cuba. Our vacation started out on a rocky note as on our bus ride to the resort, we hit a pig! It was a small boar and our poor bus driver was very distressed. But from there, things definitely improved. We spent every day on the beach, reading, sunning and swimming. It was heavenly! I finished 6 books, met some fabulous new people and drank lots of slushy drinks (and mojitos!).

Our spot - we sat here every day because there was a little shade

Posing for my hubby

Hanging out on Hemingway pier, watching the sun set. It was windy like this almost every day.

Remberto, the pizza guy. Remberto made us fresh pizzas almost every night and delievered them to our table. He didn`t speak much English and our Spanish was rusty, but that didn`t seem to matter. He was so much fun!

We also got a geography lesson while on holiday as we met a lovely couple - Morag and Chris - who live on the Channel Islands, specifically Guernsey, between the UK & France. Neither Jason or I had heard of the Channel Islands so it was interesting to chat with them.

We had such amazing weather - only 20 minutes of rain the entire trip. And while it was windy every day, it was still beautiful.

We will definitely head back to Cuba!

I'm done.

My degree that is! I just wrote my last exam tonight. My last exam. Seriously. I can't believe it! I enrolled in my first university course in September 2002. And now I am done. It doesn't matter that my 3 year degree took me nearly 10 years to complete, it's done! I am so excited! Convocation day is June 17, 2011.

Thursday I will be heading to Cuba to celebrate the completion of my degree. I plan to do a lot of swimming in the ocean and lounging on the beach, reading - I'm bringing 6 books - but no textbooks allowed!

When I return, I plan to be scrapbooking and cardmaking and in turn blogging more.

See you in a week!!

Leisure suit

I've completed another Sketchy Thursday sketch after taking last week off because of school - I had a test and assignment due. 2 more weeks then I am done! Seriously, I can't wait!

This past weekend I got together with my sister to scrap and we had a blast!! She completed 4 double page layouts and one single page and I completed 2 single page layouts. I am such a slow scrapbooker!! The photos are of my niece McKenna who is 19 months old.

Here's the Sketchy Thursdays sketch:

And here's my take:

I love how this turned out and I still have enough pictures of her to do another page so it will eventually end up as a double! Miss McKenna is such a cutie!

The recipe - background paper is from Close to my Heart; Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in Cinder and Tea Rose; Canvas flower, button, flower & stem stickers and pink paper strip are all from Stampin' Up. The other flower paper strip and the miscellaneous butterfly button are from my sister's stash. The letters are cut using my cricut using the Learning Curve font & melon mambo paper from SU paper. The mini letters are from my stash. The title was placed on white paper from SU that was glimmer misted with the same 2 colours I used on the background paper and the edges were inked with SU melon mambo. The title background was cut using a nestability die in my cuttlebug.

Blog Candy!

Sketchy Thursdays - 3.03

Here is the 3.03 Sketchy Thursdays sketch:

And here is my take:

I am happy with how this turned out. I had finished another layout with the same sketch, but I wasn't happy with it so I started over with new pictures. Oh, and check out my assistant...

He obviously wanted attention because he was sitting right on top of both my layout and my paper trimmer.

If I keep playing along with Sketchy Thursday's I will have my wedding album and our London/Paris trip scrapped in no time!

The background paper is from Close to my heart, the striped square paper is from 7 gypsies "Barcelona", the film strip paper is from Jillibean soup, "blended beans and the camera's are also Jillibean, "Italian seasoning". The letters for the title are from Mind Mind's Eye "Lush" Collection and the 2010 was from the Echo Park Merry Christmas Collection.

Sketchy Thursday Challenge

I found the Sketchy Thursday blog from Darcy`s blog and have admired their sketches for a while now. This is my first time playing along with the Sketchy Thursday challenge. I loved this sketch and I used my favourite colour combo.

The background paper is from Karen Foster designs, the flower from Bazill and the heart jewel stickers are from white blossom. The black paper is American crafts, but I am unsure what the other papers are as I used scraps from my stash.

On a different note, can you believe it`s MARCH already?!?

Here is the Tami Potter layout out I completed at the CHA crop at Two Scrapbook Friends. I have been wanting to complete a layout using this technique since I saw my scrappy friends Sam & Veronica complete one about two years ago. I finally bought it in January and then completed the LO yesterday. I was very aprehensive at first, but with some guidance from Sam & Veronica, I quickly got the hang of it. My plan is to complete one double page layout for all of my travel adventures so I still have Paris, Barcelona and Gibraltar to do...

Scrappin' when I can - with help from 2SF

So I have been scrapping a fair bit this year. Two scrapbook friends, my lss has forum and every week they issue various scrapbooking challenges and sketches. I've been trying to play along every week so in turn, I've been scrapping more. As well, 2SF hosted an online Superbowl Crop and issued 7 football related challenges. I managed to complete all 7 and I had a great time completing this online crop and I hope t2SF hosts another one soon!

The Challenges were: Use Numbers, Use Stars, Black & Yellow, Think Sun, Use Brackets, Be the Ball and Scrap your Food.

Another 2SF challenge

Dee challenged us to scrap our friends. Easy peasy! I've got lots of photos with ma girls as almost all of my besties travelled to Spain to join us for our wedding.

For my bachelorette I suggested we go pole dancing! We had a great time, though we were all aprehensive at first. We definitely got an ab workout from laughing!

2SF Product Challenge

So, I've finally finished a product challenge. I say finally, because I've always bought them....and then never completed a layout. Now I can say that I have.

I also challenged myself within the challenge (does that make sense?) to only use the products supplied. I succeeded, but I think my page is a little on the "bland" side. I may eventually add stuff, but for now I'm going to try to leave it be.

The lovely models are my 2 kitties, Anabella & Alistair aka Bellie and Ali, or Phyliss Triller and Minky!

2SF Challenge

I am hoping to be able to continue to make time to play along at 2SF!

Here is my take on the monthly sketch challenge:

Thanks for peeking!
